"The joint venture is currently acquiring additional 2D seismic data over the Victory structure and this data, together with the encouraging data obtained from the well, will be used to make a decision on the forward evaluation of the structure, which may include the drilling of another well in the 2016 dry season."

Seems to me the contractor could have done things differently/better at Victory, but with bets on it is hard to do a quick u-turn (Whitenoise's sidetracking suggestion was conveyed but could not be done, I trust for good reasons).

They are not walking away from Victory, they will more than likely approach it another way having learnt from the errors and nail it next year, clearly the hydrocarbons present warrant a follow-up.
