Thanks @domum, shale is not really my thing, but having worked in CSG, where methane attachs to water at pressure in the formation and dissociates with pressure release in the well enabling simple separation of methane gas from produced water. I am unsure as to whether the reported lack of hydrocarbon even with saline water flow from the formation reflects a negative indicator of hydrocarbon, an indicator of lower volatile fractions in the hydrocarbons present, and no gas fraction, or is due to insufficient release of frac fluids to this point. We wait and see....
