You cannot make lose if you sell when the SP is up that is what happened when the announcement came out I sold straight. away as it was obvious the SP would go down it preserves you capital.
What does it matter if the SP goes up and you buy in at higher price you still have the same amount of funds but less shares and I can live with that.
The SH that did not sell are sitting on large paper lose and no guarantee that it will go up I have had Stocks like that and learned that you cannot make a loss taking small profit and the SH holding would have lost their paper profit and I am a lot older than you
