Yep thanks Juno it was more so that they know certain kinds of shale like to absorb/imbibe water and expel hydrocarbons and it's this mechanism that we hope will be in action right now.

This stuff happens on a molecular level and has to do with the relative electrical attractions between the molecules that make up the rocks, water and hydrocarbons.

There r various frac juice additives that will alter these surface/rock characteristics of which wetting agents or essentially detergents will act in this way. They also now have additives that will work on a Nanno basis that will alter molecular arrangements when the physical characteristics or environment change, such as pressure/flow to improve the hydrocarbon flow.

As u say let's be hope if there r any major issues post the soak/shut in that these technologies will be applicable as it would be a pity if we couldn't get that 1 Bbbls+ out of the ground.
