In the most optimistic view it could be the imbibition has worked so well that pressure has built up such that there is so much "kick" that they need to control it as they are worried about excessive flow rates and possible displacement of the proppant.
Another consideration is that "mud" is actually a workover or completion fluid, eg surfactant, which is not so positive as it means they have moved on to chemical dosing phase.
