The announcement on Tuesday was that 88E acquired a big-ass patch of turf up in Alaska that had been drilled by the US Navy back in the late 1940's. See, the agreement back then was that if test drilling was done, the ground would be set aside as a petroleum reserve. So, the test drill went ahead and struck oil and for three weeks they were pulling 800 barrels of light sweet crude PER DAY out of the ground.
With those results recorded, the well was sealed up and the Navy left.
