The situation is very dire in Malaysia and other parts of Asia. Much worst than the first wave, daily numbers are around 10x with the delta variant. People scrambling for beds and hospitals scrambling for oxygen tanks and ventilators. Reports of vaccinated doctors and nurses dying too. Hence the total hard lockdown was necessary even for critical industries like clinical gloves.

How this translate to Europe and North America remains to be seen, bearing in mind first wave was Asia-centric first, followed by Europe and USA only peaked around late last year. Could be a repeat of what is to come.
