Yes, this is exactly what I think will happen. They need funding before August and require a deal. A capital raise (CR) would only be used as a last resort at $0.53 per share. As I understand, the options vest at $0.80 and were granted as a "sorry-not-sorry" gesture to retail holders following the last institutional-only placement.
However, if and only if there is a successful outcome in Phase 3 trials and they need capital to commercialize an approved product, then that would be the appropriate time for a CR. In that scenario at that time, the share price wouldn't be $0.53 it more likely to be $5.30.
However, we always need to be mindful of a complete loss of capital with OPT.
