If you're talking about NCM811, don't hold your breath:
    https://do not advertise external sites/Article/3851876/2019-PREVIEW-NCM811-batteries-not-likely-to-be-used-in-electric-vehicles-in-2019.html

NCM811 actually costs more to produce than NCM622 or NCM523..... i suggest reading this article. This NCM811 thing is like pie in the sky stuff.... championed as "reducing the price of batteries by reducing cobalt usage", but actually not even delivering on that. Instead, you get compromised battery safety!

LiFePO4, on the other hand, is another thing. On EVs, it does seem to be an attractive alternative. However, this tech has been around since 1990s. Why, then, have EV makers like Tesla not jumped onto them from the very beginning? There must be something about them that is keeping them from being widely adopted.... i suspect it is the sheer volume of the batteries. LiFePO4 batteries are much bigger than Nickel-Cobalt Lithium batteries.
