This is true and what I was trying to impart, that the tariffs as designed are - economically speaking -flawed.
One thing that may or may not have flown under the radar was that copper was (temporarily?) excluded from reciprocal tariffs "Imports of steel, aluminium, copper and specific minerals not available in the US are exempt from the reciprocal tariffs" https://www.mining-technology.com/news/us-reciprocal-trade-tariffs/ This may well have been a factor in the copper price correction in US (it was trading with a tariff premium).
Anyway I did manage to pick up Freeport McMoran on sale (or at least it appeared to be on sale - price is what you pay and value is what you receive and all that...)
