In terms of the EPA appeal, the involvement of an independent party was a move in his favor.
As with all things NT, decisions won’t necessarily be made by the NT party in way we may be familiar with.
From what I’ve read he is considered a leader of his Ngalia tribe.
Is he an elder? You have to ask his people.
What I do know is he appears to be politically and media savvy and more importantly, passionate about his culture.
