Gamestop had 140 percent of its shares on issue being held short. It was a very exceptional case, an outlier. That narrative that you have came up with is completely false. Gamestop is still very close to bankruptcy as a business, so a lot of hedge funds are now scrambling to short it. In the end the amateur traders will be the ones left holding the bag.
