In my opinion, Grant King cant be blamed for the fall in the POO,
but he is responsible for some of the mistakes that have occurred at the company in the last couple of years.
It was at least a couple of years ago, that OPEC announced they would no longer support the oil price and lose market share. Thus, they would keep pumping regardless of price, to defend market share.
Grant King didnt understand that this decision by OPEC to no longer support a high POO and willingness to let the price fall to defend market share, would drastically affect ORG.
Had the ORG Board acted 2 years ago, when OPEC announced their change of policy (and POO was $100), through cutting costs, asset sales and a capital raising when the ORG SP was $13, not $4.30 ! ORG would have been a much stronger company with low debt and able to withstand prolonged periods of low POO.
Instead, here we are today with a SP below $6 and no dividend.
King and the ORG Board are happy to take the credits when things go well for ORG. Well they also need to take the blame when they get it wrong.
