Remember most shareholders supported the deal and it was a very close call. It was only because of AusSuper and a minority of other shareholders the deal didnt go through.
So the board was acting in interests of shareholders by entertaining the bid (which was a massive premium when it was first made).
Despite being against the transaction I would be very happy to see board and chair stay. The company is doing a good job so far in navigating what is a difficult industry. The share price is getting back close to bid price. Let's not derail it
