I don't hold and haven't researched this a lot. My initial assumption was that the consolidaton was to prevent a large downward adjustment of the SP due to the special divi. ie Purely an administration thing. I think an unusually large gap down post diivi adjustment is a bad look from PR perspective, despite there being no change to holders wealth, notwithstanding the divi itself of course.
