100 % agree option 2 and 3 is a bit of a farce when your average Joe has to stump up the money however 3 could be ok depending on performance factors at the time of conversion as it reduces dilution and essentially costs the company nothing.
Bit of an overreaction in here to what is essentially just a sign on bonus, which is why I'm curious to know what his wage is.
