Lots of things in life may not seem fair, but this is for the greater good.
It's in fact the opposite to a big middle finger to shareholders, company is being responsible and trying to uphold the SP.
If they did things the way you were hoping, you and all current shareholders will be worse off in the long run.
It's this exact mentality and lack of regulation toward general investors on various platforms (commsec, CMC etc) that an SPP is usually a bad idea.
Due to your obvious lack of experience and knowledge of capital markets, one would be forgiven to think that this the correct way to move forward.
