MM.. a couple reasons to go into a trading halt;

1. the market knows about some information or they speculate they do and it confuses the market or could by way of price direction and to protect the shareholders they halt trading and prepare an announcement to clarify it.

2. Information has arrived and been assessed by the company that is material to the trading price of the stock... either positive or negative and they may need more time and consult a wider audience which could lead to a run on the stock so again they call a halt..

Its the right reason to call the halt now either way... oil n gas are very poor at doing this when testing wells... IMHO
