Makes u wonder why they'd b coring in the first instance.

Obviously to understand the reservoir properties down to the southern fringe, deeper gas-water contact, HC saturation & the ususal variables.

Last depth was 5123m, so assuming that TD is still 5300mm (+/-), we still have 177m of drilling & likely coring to follow. The triassic reservoir is a producer at Scott Reef, so they may well b doing a repeat of this.

Worth noting here is that Inpex have drilled 13 odd wells at Ichthys to the East & have spent a lot of time & effort on coring the dual reservoirs there.

So whilst shareholders/ shorters etc, remain in the dark, since there's no mention of gas or hydrocarbons on the update, drilling etc goes on.

IMHO, its better to core the reservoir to get a good understanding of what could b a very large (deep) reservoir. Fairly straight-fwd esp. when there could b multiple sands involved.

Not sure why they didn't mention any background gas readings for the 320m drilled from 4741 to 5061m. I know they can't monitor gas/cuttings etc in the cored section since there r no cuttings to the surface all in the sealed fibre-glass core barrel, so the question remains on that 320m section, which was drilled.

Perhaps someone could ring up the Smithmeister for the answer, since Scotty would have no technical idea about this bit, being a finance dude.

Anyway we wait for the next update whenever that mayb, no rush, core, drill, run W/L logs-MDT etc, mayb test & then P&A frm there on.
