WESTRALIAN GAS AND POWER LTDS 2011 EXPLORATION PROGRAM
Westralian Gas and Power Ltd (ASX:WGP) announces its 2011 Exploration Program
which will place an emphasis on shale gas exploration in Western Australia, following
the promising results from AWE Limiteds (ASX:AWE) exploration of the North Perth
Basin.
WGP Chairman Peter Briggs said that the company also plans to farm out its coal seam
gas tenements to joint venture partners.
This year, AWE Ltd identified a very large potential shale gas resource (estimated 13
to 20 Tcf of gas with a potential 1,500 to 4,000 PJ of recoverable gas in the Carynginia
Shales) in the basin he said.
WGP holds approximately 150,000 acres in the highly prospective shale gas areas EP
455 and DR 11 also located in the North Perth Basin adjacent to AWEs EP 413. Two
thirds of this holding is part of the joint venture with AWE.
