Stapleman generally they can gauge whether a zone is commercially productive if certain parameters are met whether assisted or non assisted. Sometimes ambiguous results can mean they need to up the ante beyond an unassisted test.

As you say good flows unassisted saves $$.

Light oil is the expected result in these FV/LS tests which can negate the need for assisted testing. Basically the guys will try unassisted initially but be prepared to do more if required.
