Arasor, ZTE Corp in JV to develop laser applications 10:13, Thursday, 15 November 2007
Sydney - Thursday - November 15: (RWE Aust Business News) - Arasor (ASX:ARR) has entered a $US300 million joint venture with ZTE Corp to develop and manufacture laser display applications for the global market place. Arasor and ZTE have established the JV for commercialising a wide range of laser based display products for application in TVS, projectors and mobile displays including cellular phones, PDAs and notebooks. Arasor will own 51pc of the JV. Under phase 1 of the JV, to run from 2008 to 2010, the China Development Bank will finance up to $US300m. Production is expected to start in H208, ramping up over time to produce 6m laser sources and 2.4m light engines for cellular phones per annum. The phase 2, from 2011-12, planning has commenced and will be based upon key benchmarks achieved in phase 1.
