"anything they would produce from the main zone would lower production from the other well."
Each well they sink into the main zone doesn't effect production (bopd) of other wells that are pumping from that zone, but it will obviously empty it (reserve) quicker. CVN have plenty of years in proven reserves held within this main zone so shortening the time factor to retrieve this volume is not anything that is a short term negative.
