""HERVEY BAY’S WORLD CLASS BOAT HARBOUR
A major expansion and redevelopment of the Hervey Bay marina at Urangan has
been announced today by the Honourable Paul Lucas MP, Deputy Premier and
Minister for Infrastructure and Planning and the Honourable Andrew McNamara
MP, Minister for Sustainability, Climate Change and Innovation and Member for
Hervey Bay.
Watpac Limited, Queensland largest construction and property development
company together with the Seymour Group, Queensland’s largest private
investment and development company, have been chosen as the preferred
proponent by the Queensland Government to undertake the development which
will transform the Urangan Boat Harbour and Marina at Hervey Bay.
“We are creating a world class facility at Hervey Bay that will provide a huge
boost to the area’s tourism industry and economy”, Mr Lucas said.
Hervey Bay is already the whale watching capital of Australia and this major
expansion and redevelopment will add significantly to the appeal of Hervey Bay
as a place to visit and to live, Mr Lucas said.
Mr McNamara said the expansion of the boat harbour and the associated
commercial and residential development represents a development value of over
$800 million to be delivered over the medium term by the Watpac/Seymour Joint
Venture.""
