Yes tax minimisation and tax avoidance are different by definition, although those definitions can be rather grey in the eyes of the ATO sometimes. I guess it comes down to how good your accountant is and whether the ATO questions the interpretation. Minimisation or avoidance??? Just something to keep in mind when dealing with these issues.
