Certainly no engineer however I worked years ago on these gold mines. An underpass was built on very busy Stuart Hwy with numerous daily movement of road trains that supplied Darwin.
Similarly the ore from Union Reef and Frances Creek was transported by road train side tippers to the processing plant at Cosmo Howley.
Just an example of how easy to overcome the GNW. Yes the company would need to forego any minerals for a certain distance either side of GNH.
