Reading the tea leaves, Labour are coming under increasing pressure to clarify their policy position before more projects are shelved. In the last week, Unite and GMB unions, Tony Blair Institute, Wood Mackenzie and Stifel have all slammed them as irresponsible and dangerous, bad for jobs, bad for energy security, bad for tax revenue, bad for future funding of their flagship GB Energy, and bad for the carbon footprint and the balance of payments (since their policies would lead to a 100% increase in imported Oil and Gas by 2029).
This will become even more controversial as more producers defer, cancel or simply walk away from the North Sea.
