Shadow, the word “catalyst” is a very important word. Both for buying and selling. I have learnt never to sell or buy unless a catalyst exists for doing so. ie. never sell CSL just because your portfolio is overweight with CSL shares, because if you invested in the right stock at the right time, your portfolio will have imbalance, but sometimes, that’s good. My SMSF is overweight RHC, BAP and a few others, but if the companies are well run and you do t need the cash, why sell ? Too many people sell to “rebalance” their portfolio and regret doing it after the fact. Of course, as you mentioned, each investor has their own risk tolerance, income and other goals that may not immediately be obvious to others.
