Prominent Hill surely has an indeteminate mine life as its still being drilled to outline the coppper-gold resourse. Theprocess plant has been built to last 30 years, guess there is a good reason for that. As for takeover, BHP could use it for a training site for its moooted $30B expansion, although its planned to dig down to 480m at PH its a baby compared to Roxby - Olympic Dam pit plan.
