They already know what is in the ground, maybe trying to find extra? I think they would be drilling to now figure out what the ground is like to come up with a pit plan and whether or not it’s cost effective to what is in the ground etc…
I only work under ground not in open pits but that would be my guess. Not going to throw this amount of money at it if you aren’t happy with what is already in the ground, especially seem they don’t own it.
