Regarding pelletization of either haematite or magnetite. The deciding factor is the mineral. From my understanding there si more already partially reduced iron in magnetite then haematite even at equal grades like 65% Fe. Thus I think less (expensive) coking coal is needed to process the magnetite. This makes the magnetite competitive even the the bulk shipping available form groups like BHP.
Then there's the penalty elements like Phos, Alumina and silica all of which should be lower in a finely ground magnetite recovered by wet magnetic or heavy media (WHMS). You would make money at $60T for haemetite or magnetite but hand over fist ( like BHP & Rio) do at $100+. You can use the magnetite pellets to "sweeten" the haematite with higher deleterious elements as well. That's why Savage River in Tas was competitive. Atlas Iron looked at building a magnetite Iron ore plant for India. (both the Indian's where unreliable and Atlas (Iron) lost interest the the ion or prices fell).
India makes a lot of promises re- coal , U, Fe and other things. (Their time frame is 20 years when the Aussies mean 5). there a bit of that in SA too (except where BHP & Santos are concerned) and HAV isn't exactly the road runner .
