I took a brief look at the history of describing MND.
In 1865, Jean-Martin Charcot provided the first detailed clinical description of MND/ALS.
Later he wrote that: "The prognosis, at present, is very dark. There does not exist, so far as I know, an example of a case where all the symptoms that I have mentioned have been followed by a cure. Is this a final judgment? Only the future will tell."
