Jus thought I would add a chart that others might find useful in evaluating if a purchase of a small generator is worthwhile. The chart is a pivot table of gas price and efficiency, with the break even MW.hr price in the body. Todays gas price is hovering around $8 per GJ, the Victorian grid price is going between 75 and 105 $per MW.hr. The nova site has an efficiency of 40% so will be operating today. Peakers of less than 30% efficiency will not. Gas price and grid prices can be obtained vie the aemo website.
Column 1 Column 2 Column 3 Column 4 Column 5 0 1 Efficiency 2 Gas Price ($/Gj) 20 30 40 50 3 5[/B] 90 60 45 36 4 6 108 72 54 43.2 5 7 126 84 63 50.4 6 8 144 96 72 57.6 7 9 162 108 81 64.8 8 10 180 120 90 72
Not the figures above do not include any margins due to other operating costs that may apply.
