I was talking the first production run, not lab testing in 2020 and in development used 55%/60% natural. The 4680 doesn't use silicon atm. Either the next generation or the 1 after will.
If 4680's used primarily synthetic, 2.5kt/yr of synthetic isn't going to make many batteries given graphite is the largest component of a battery by mass. Tesla have signed an off-take with SYR for 25kt/yr of natural. 10x the amount.
There is the off chance however Panasonic might use a different battery mix to what Tesla are doing producing their own in Texas and Ca.
