OK, Very basic 5 min draw up so no laughing !! lol... with basics in mind to see if it's a good discussion. lol...
A gyroscope or accelerometer relies on plates of MEMs cantilevers and movement due to a capacitive action to activate the resonant frequency of the structure, in current form no the LumiMEMS won't be a multiple axis gyroscope, but a different configuration of cantilevers on the wafer and positioning of the light source it could be. Now this is just a quick mod of the original Gyro but you may get the idea... Instead of using
the capacitance to read the movement, the measuring by the optical technique in
LumiMEMS can be applied. The whole MEMs structure could even be simplified and the positioning of the light sources on a cantilever structure that measures 3 axis.... Being LumiMEMS can be activated to it's natural frequency with a burst of intense laser light we have all we need, a substrate with a grating, cantilevers vibrating at their resonant frequency
in opposing patterns and the Coriolis Effect, Any vibrating cantilever that has the Coriolis effect applied changes its resonant frequency this change can be measured and data compiled to work out the rate of movement or change.



OK very crude guys but you should get the picture, just cantilever design and light source placement, it could even be 3 cantilevers with an opposing one so 6 cantilevers..
