"0.1% of patented inventions are successful" is utter nonsense. Australian inventors get about 1100 to 1300 Australian patents granted each year (2011-2013 figures, Australian Intellectual Property Report 2014). So that would make only around one successful invention, nationally, each year? It's almost inconceivable that anyone could believe that (let alone repeat it on a public forum).
