Not sure if you know, but the role of a non-executive director should be to provide independent oversight, strategic guidance, and accountability to the company's management team. Do you think she has done that well recently?

I am assuming, that in Stangelogic's opinion and mine she has most likely not done a good job...A few "big holders" who have some sway probably thought she had not done a good enough job either and "hard a word" i.e had a very difficult conversation with PR about his and her (Hellen's) performance and thinking about it actually most likely the board as a whole.

To save face and keep what is left of her "reputation" as much as possible she resigned instead of being fired at a later stage when new executives are brought in.

This is obviously just a guess but it looks this way from the outside looking in. Hope that helps
