@Mozzarc - After doing my own brief research (I know, why start now?) it appears the placebo effect can vary. (Confusing)

But I guess there could be all sorts of environmental or procedural factors that can influence a participant's psyche.
For example, a subcutaneous injection as opposed to an intraarticular could influence subconscious reactions or perceptions.

And if something about the trial produces a higher placebo effect in the control group, it stands to reason that it could produce a higher placebo effect in the treatment group as well.

But do we care if the difference in the groups is still statistically significant, and we have those glorious MRIs showing thickening of cartilage!

Any input from better informed posters than myself welcome.
