Could be a number of reasons why it's immediate.
Given the last sentence in the announcement the door is open for investors to find out if they really want to.
The next stage of the companies life may simply require a different skillset at the top. Perhaps an opportunity to appoint a gun has arisen. As a number of possible replacements have already been identified it may not be to long before a new CEO is named.
