I certainly hope, as others have speculated, it is not due to health, that would be terrible news.
If it isn't, then PR saw the writing on the wall. He was counselled that he needed to bring in a senior to help with the commercialisation - therecent18 months SP action has probably accelerated his (unreasonable) timeline, but it was out of kilter of market expectations, and the likes of CSVF, for example.
An immediate step down is rather drastic. In the end, it is what the company needs.
