Lots of speculation here, which is all good fun, but it’s also entirely possible that Marco simply up and left because he was poached by another company offering him more money.
The board may then have taken the view that since in the current market it would be virtually impossible to attract a replacement CEO at a salary that Australian shareholders would find acceptable, back to the future with Paul Rennie was the best available option.
Not an ideal situation to find ourselves in, but hardly the end of the world.
