Ozwire, sorry, i did not even read your above post after reading some of the others before hand but if you refer to the Beach Energy report 5-Oct and the PTR announcement 6-Oct I think it might help explain the considered low rates.
5-Oct Beach Energy release Beach Operated Geothermal - Paralana Project, Arrowie Basin The Paralana-2 (Beach 21%) geothermal well is currently being flow tested and controlled at approximately 2 barrels per minute to enable slow heating of the wellbore. Flow will be monitored from the well over approximately the next two weeks. Results will be communicated after this period.
and 6-Oct PTR Release Following the mobilization of equipment to the Paralana site, flowing of the well started early on the morning of Monday 3 October 2011. The operation has involved the gradual increasing of temperature and flow to manage the operation within equipment and test design parameters.
