renewables are "maintained" often too... still to see an example of a full replacement of a wind or solar farm..
examples exist already where offshore wind farms have withstood category 4 storms (Hurricane Harvey for example).
Similar weather for solar farms via Hurricane Florence in 2018... resulted in a replacement of 12 solar panels in a 60Mw solar farm... absolutely devastating.
solar panels may have diminishing efficiency over time... but that is a known variable at the time of planning.. you factor that into your costings and expected revenues... hardly a surprise, and not a compelling argument not to use the technology.. it is still cheaper per Mw to build and operate than coal...
