    Well that is interesting!
BUT, what does this all really mean?

    IMO of course....

Firstly, The big contractor companies don't really give a stuff about the environment and its just cost that really matters! They knew the details of their details of obligations when they signed up, and haven't really made an effort to do the 'best' thing. But hey, we sorta knew that one would happen. Profit is the game here.

Secondly, Its obvious that the landfill boys will will take it all, not worry for a second, pocket the cash, and dump lime on it, and deal with any other issues if and when they arise.Who could really blame them. Big $$$ involved. And the EPA are letting them get away with it!

Thirdly, Any real analysis of what and how you take dirt out of the ground would have produced a report giving a conclusion for a mixed soil output. And i'm not even a professional. But surely that would be a major idea to discuss. But what this really boils down too, is a complete lack of EPA controls and enforcement, not least partnership and mentorship of the metro project re WASS. Again did we know this might happen, bloody oath we did, the EPA has shown itself to be an intellectual bureaucrat with no claws and certainly no in the market positioning. EPA might as a well merge with the CFA. And deal fires, explosions and toxic leaks when they happen! Rather than promise the world and deliver nothing. Continually very disappointing. Waste of tax payers money. ALSO Andrews Govt = Govt of the people = pathetic. Do something about practicing what you preach.

4...& Lastly. Any good in this announcement. YES 4 big things
    1) At least we know the NAG lads have been doing something, other than sitting in the NAG tin shed swapping stories about Fosterville. This is a good report and tells us a lot of what has been going on re WASS.
    2) This report allows us to shove this garbage back in the faces of not only the EPA but also the government, and contractors.
    3) Ok may have missed out on early metro projects, but it sounds like with more pushing & getting the EPA to follow through with enforcing its guidelines, we are in a very good position for NEL and other projects. Albeit 2020 now, not 2019.
4). Bugger this is a hard job. But best practice and helping the environment while providing excellent infrastructural projects for Victoria must be the optimal outcome. With the landfill crisis impacting Victoria like never before, we must use all the assets available to us. And hey here is an idea, why not do it in a way that helps our state economy and environment.

I do think the AGE would be interested in this announcement. A nice investigation for them.

Best to all. Keep the faith. Often the best stories take time.
    Cheers Duke

PS would love gold news! Thanks
