It's an interesting hypothetical question, and one that I'm sure others are asking. I can only offer you my personal views on the matter, not an informed opinion.
Trying to get the Carbon Genie back in the bottle wont be as easy as Tony Abbott makes it sound. It's not as simple as just repealing the Clean Energy Act. There would be potential litigation and massive compensation claims. Despite their protests against the carbon Tax, business will adjust to the new regime pretty quickly, and once they do, they will demand certainty.
My guess is that Abbott's opposed to the Act because he's in Opposition. If he becomes the Government one day, he may change his mind about repealing a major source of Government revenue.
Until then, it's a moot point. The Law, as it presently stands will see Australia operating a carbon economy within the next 8 months. The major beneficiary in all this is Carbon Conscious.
