One of the key prognostic markers in glioblastoma is the methylation status of the promoter for DNA repair gene MGMT. Methylated MGMT is predictive of better response to temozolomide and improved survival, while MGMT-unmethylated glioblastoma has a worse prognosis and is more difficult to treat.
Drs James Hansen and Jiangbing Zhou of Yale University have shown that PAT-DX1 administered by tail vein injection significantly improved survival in an orthotopic animal model of MGMT-unmethylated glioblastoma derived from human tumour explants.”
So, the test was on almost untreatable condition described as MGMT-unmethylated glioblastoma and not on the less severe condition.
To me the outcome was more than positive and it shows they are on the right track. The mice lived longer and there were no adverse side effects. I wonder what the survival rate would have been if the test was conducted on the more treatable condition, or if the mice had been given different doses to get different degrees of effect.
Many variables here but much room and opportunity for better results to come
