I am surprised, and slightly frustrated that nothing has been announced yet - and the fact neither party seem to have come out swinging makes it even more intriguing - maybe a compromise is being worked out as we speak?.  Both parties have known for days and I would have thought in this democratic society the judgement would have been released to the public soon after (ie late Friday or early today) it was
    released
    to the parties involved.

As for the specifics of the court case itself, my view was that BRL could either pay US $40m OR [or being the important word] elect (instead of that payment) to pay a higher royalty rate instead - they had paid this higher royalty rate for years (as BRL's annual reports show), although obviously this doesn't amount to much as hardly any coal was mined - so do they get this higher royalty rate they paid back if they have to pay the $40m USD?
