Not really. The ASX has a responsibility for the operation of an orderly and informed market. Hence it has first level responsibility for enforcing continuous disclosure rules, but also to prevent misleading announcements. It doesn't have the resources to review every announcement, so certain companies because of circumstances or events will end up on a watch list (CLI was supposed to be one) where a higher level of scrutiny is applied, or otherwise in a situation like we have now any company making COVID-19 related claims will have those announcements looked at.

But part of the problem in this current situation is that the ASX lacks any form of relevant expertise among those employed to do this job. In the last round we had of this kerfuffle they were asking the Chairman to summarise the science for them because they were incapable of understanding the research themselves. He refused because he's not qualified to do so either. Hence a stand off ensued.
