Hotboss, pretty naive statement.
Morrison has completely screwed our relationship with China in at least the short/medium term.
No doubt sucked in and egged on by his great mate Donald, Morrison was the guy that decided to go on a global grandstanding crusade to "demand" the investigation into China's handling of Covid-19.
Instead of achieving the same outcome through the normal diplomatic back-channels, he puffed his chest out striding the global stage and in doing so unneccesarily rubbed China's nose in it.
Just what sort of reaction did he expect from China? Already deeply humiliated, and likely to agree to a post-mortem on Covid anyway, they were rightly pissed off at Australia's grandstanding and dug their heels in. And since then have struck back in a very predictable fashion, by banning imports of Australian materials & produce, across eight sectors at last count.
Morrison is wholly responsible for this escalation in tensions. A decent Foreign Minister like Julie Bishop would have easily achieved a broadly-supported global Covid investigation without trashing TWO DECADES of hard work and slog by Australia's diplomats, corporates, education industry and everyone else China-facing from Australia.
It is an absolute disgrace that the failed marketing fraud "ProMo" has led us down this path of economic destruction - this, from the leader of a Coalition that is meant to PROMOTE & GROW AUSTRALIAN EXPORTS and to represent corporates and farmers.
Instead, for many of them he has destroyed their biggest export market.
All for a bit of Prime Ministerial grandstanding and a photo op.
