I started playing it pretty early so it wasn't too hard to get to that position. You definitely don't need to spend money to get high up - I haven't spent any. I'm sure they would've got revenue from me from watching all of the ads! Obviously there are people that do like to spend money which is good.

I'm just lucky to have a bit of time on my hands. Makes sense what you're saying about Facebook and FarmVille. It'll be interesting to see what it's like by the end of Early Access.
